Overview

Provide exceptional experience for clients visiting the shops. Service is performed with enthusiasm and friendliness with a willingness to offer clients additional services and products.  Identifying needs of client, offering products to match, marketing their services outside of work hours, and retention of clients is critical to the financial success of a Hudson / Hawk Barber & Shop (HH) barber.  Maintain a well-groomed and professional appearance as the face of our brand. Consistent adherence to policies and procedures outlined by HH is required. High-level of responsibility with safety for clients within the shop and offering a consistent, quality HH service every time.  HH is a schedule-based company which allows barbers to be booked online. Schedule adherence and minimum absence are required.  Late for shift and too long service times interrupt the client experience and are not tolerated. Passion for work, engagement, and interest. This is a full-time position.  Growth opportunities available through senior and lead positions.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Engage customers and guests as they enter the shop creating a favorable and lasting impression
  • Thorough knowledge of HH Handbook, expectations of quality services, all available via company intranet
  • Gauge client needs through consultation and client-centric – remain focused on client throughout service
  • Ability to identify and offer solution to skin, scalp, and styling concerns
  • Serve as the professional expert on trends, products, and individual needs of client and offer appropriate product with each client
  • Ensure daily cleanliness, neatness, and sanitization of all functions of shop; barber station/equipment/surrounding area, bathroom, break room, lobby, retail areas, front desk, and building exterior
  • Continual effort for shop function; sweep between clients any station where needed, towels laundered, folded, supplied at towel station and towel warmer
  • Anticipate back-bar supply needs and communicate to SC or lead, following exact protocol
  • Actively promote HH services (app, email and text reminders, recurring appointments, etc), brand, and products for sale
  • Regular marketing and strong effort for client retention via quality and recurring appointments
  • Ability to arrive to work 10-15 minutes prior to your assigned shift start time and ability to stay past shift to continue servicing clients as needed
  • Fill in for absent staff as necessary
  • Barbers are expected to know and anticipate their clients appointments by viewing Zenoti on the shop computer or app
  • Barbers are expected to perform all functions of the front desk with confidence and accuracy; take phone calls, schedule/cancel/move appointments, full functionality of Zenoti reservation system, take payments for services and issue change and receipts.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned  

Minimum Expectations:

  • Every barber should perform a minimum of 10 grooming services per day
  • Each barber must successfully execute all services within the time, or less, designated by HH
  • Service times and prices are determined by HH
  • Attachment rate expectation is no less than 10% (one product sold for every 10 services)

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Licensed with state cosmetology or barber board
  • Continual skill set approval by series of demonstrations to HH
  • Highly motivated to sell product, continue education, market service, and retain clients
  • Reliably arrives for shifts on time, minimal request for time off
  • Full availability for weekend and holiday hour shifts
  • High level of integrity
  • Goal setter with ambition to add services and grow with the company

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Barber or crossover license (ability to offer straight shaves)
  • Willingness to offer waxing services
  • 3+ years experience
  • Experience in customer service  
  • Computer and cash register experience
